Taliban administration and India discuss postal cooperation and e-commerce
The Taliban administration said that, on the sidelines of the 14th Congress of the Asia-Pacific Postal Union, officials from Afghanistan Post held talks with Indian postal authorities on expanding bilateral cooperation.
According to information published by the General Directorate of State-Owned Companies, in the meeting Mawlawi Rahmatullah Maki, acting chief executive of the Taliban administration’s postal company, and his delegation discussed e-commerce, direct transit transfers, the development of postal services, sharing experience and strengthening joint cooperation with officials from India Post.
The body said the two sides had reached a preliminary agreement on a number of issues and that further meetings would soon be held to finalise them. No further details have yet been published about the points agreed or when they will be implemented.
The Asia-Pacific Postal Union is a regional body in the postal services sector, where member countries consult on coordination, exchange of experience and technical cooperation.
