Over 111,000 Tons of Goods Transported via Herat-Khaf Railway in One Month

Local officials in Herat report that for the first time within a single month, more than 111,000 tons of goods have been transported through the Herat-Khaf railway line; a figure considered the highest monthly transfer volume since the route became operational.

Ziaul Haq Rahmani, head of the Afghanistan Rail Development Consortium, during a meeting with Sheikh Maulana Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the governor of Herat, announced that the transportation process via this rail corridor is expanding. He attributed the increased transfer volume to the efforts of Herat’s local administration and noted that practical measures have been taken to remove existing obstacles and further facilitate the transit process.

The governor of Herat also highlighted statistics recorded at the Roshanak station, stating that in the past month alone, 111,000 tons of goods were transferred through this station. He added that if technical and administrative challenges along this route are resolved, the transfer capacity could increase up to 250,000 tons per month.

According to provided information, for the first time in a single day, 164 wagons of commercial goods were transported through Roshanak station, including 112 inbound wagons and 52 outbound wagons. The Herat-Khaf railway is one of the key routes connecting Afghanistan to the regional rail network, and increasing its capacity could play a decisive role in improving transit efficiency and strengthening the country’s trade.
