Pakistan’s Defense Minister Accuses Taliban of Bringing War into the Country

Pakistan’s Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif, has warned that the Taliban have extended the war from Afghanistan into Pakistan, following a deadly explosion in the country earlier today. He described the attack as a serious threat to Pakistan’s domestic security and said that continuing negotiations with the Taliban under such circumstances is futile.

In a message posted on the social media platform X on Tuesday, November 10, Asif stated that while the Taliban have the capability to prevent terrorist attacks within Pakistan, the conflict has now reached Islamabad. He emphasized that Pakistan has the capacity to respond decisively to the situation.

“Pakistan is at war. Those who believe this conflict is confined to the border regions and Balochistan should consider today’s suicide bombing a wake-up call,” Asif said. He added that the Pakistani military is actively engaged in combat and working to ensure the safety of citizens across the country.

The remarks come in the wake of a powerful explosion that occurred at approximately 12:30 PM today in one of Pakistan’s cities, killing at least nine people and injuring 21 others. While Pakistani officials have not yet disclosed details about those responsible for the blast, Asif’s explicit reference to the Taliban has heightened concerns over the increasing influence and activity of militant groups within Pakistan.

The Defense Minister’s recent statements underscore the consequences of previously tolerating or supporting the Taliban, which has not only contributed to instability in Afghanistan but now threatens Pakistan itself. The spread of terrorist activities into Pakistani territory highlights growing regional insecurity and the Taliban administration’s failure to control extremist groups.
