Arab Media Provide Live Coverage of Tehran’s Farewell Ceremony for Iran’s Martyred Leader

Arab and regional media outlets have provided live, real-time coverage of the farewell ceremony for the martyred leader of Iran held at the Musalla of Tehran, focusing on the large public turnout. The ceremony, continuing for the second day in Tehran, received extensive attention across Arab TV networks and news websites.

Al-Manar Network broadcast the ceremony live, reporting that residents of Tehran and other parts of Iran gathered at the venue from the early hours of the morning. According to this network, the doors of the Musalla were opened at dawn simultaneously with the call to prayer, and participants performed the morning prayer in congregation. With the official start of the ceremony, a red flag bearing the inscription “Ya Latharat al-Hussain (Peace be upon him)” was raised above the Musalla.

Al-Mayadeen Network also announced that, for the second day, the public funeral procession of Iran’s martyred leader was taking place in Tehran. Al-Masirah and Quds Networks likewise broadcast live reports, reflecting details of the ceremony and the public presence. Al-Ahed Network continuously followed news related to the event.

Al Jazeera’s website reported that Iran expects this to be one of the largest funerals in the country’s history. According to the report, the first day began with placing the coffin of the late leader before the mourning crowds, where chants of lamentation echoed across the area. Some participants also threw flowers towards the crowds.

Media reports indicate that several Iranian officials, including Masoud Pezeshkian, the president, and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of the parliament, paid their respects at the ceremony. The attendance of official delegations and political figures from several regional and international countries also attracted significant attention from Arab media.

Al Jazeera noted that international attendees at the event were categorized into three groups: the general public from various countries, religious, scholarly, and media personalities, and official government delegations. Among the officials present were the President of Iraq, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, the Prime Ministers of Armenia and Pakistan, the Commander of the Pakistani Army, and the President of Georgia.
