Rare Spring Snowfall Hits Zabul Province in Afghanistan

A video released on Wednesday, March 31, shows snowfall in the Khak Afghan district of Zabul province, marking an unusual weather event for this time of year. According to available information, besides Khak Afghan, the Dai Chopan district and some other areas of the province have also experienced snowfall. So far, no official details have been provided regarding possible damage or the impact of the snowfall on residents’ mobility.

In recent days, reports of snow have also emerged from other provinces, including Kunar, indicating that this phenomenon is not limited to a single area. Experts generally consider spring snowfall in Afghanistan to be rare and associate it with climate change and unusual weather fluctuations—a matter that has raised concerns in recent years.
