Dehleband Dam: Kandahar’s Vital Water Source and Emerging Tourist Attraction

Dehleband Dam, constructed on the Arghandab River in Kandahar province, plays a crucial role in irrigating the agricultural lands of the province during the spring and summer seasons, supplying part of the water needs of surrounding areas.

Following this year’s rainfall, the dam has filled remarkably with water; a situation that, in addition to boosting agriculture, has also created opportunities for tourism and given the area a new and vibrant appearance.

Local residents say that the full water capacity of the dam is vital for farmers, as Kandahar is one of the country’s agriculturally focused provinces, with a large portion of its population relying on farming for their livelihoods.

Dehleband Dam has been one of Kandahar’s scenic spots in previous years as well, but the increased water level this year has enhanced its natural beauty, turning it into an attractive destination for families and domestic tourists.
