Dehleband Dam: Kandahar’s Vital Water Source and Emerging Tourist Attraction

Dehleband Dam, constructed on the Arghandab River in Kandahar province, plays a crucial role in irrigating the agricultural lands of the province during the spring and summer seasons, supplying part of the water needs of surrounding areas.

Following this year’s rainfall, the dam has filled remarkably with water; a situation that, in addition to boosting agriculture, has also created opportunities for tourism and given the area a new and vibrant appearance.

Local residents say that the full water capacity of the dam is vital for farmers, as Kandahar is one of the country’s agriculturally focused provinces, with a large portion of its population relying on farming for their livelihoods.
