Taliban Authorities Deny Fall of Two Nuristan Districts

Local officials in Nuristan province have denied reports about the fall of Bargimatal and Kamdish districts, stating that these two districts remain under the control of Taliban forces.
The Nuristan local administration issued a statement claiming that rumors about the status of these districts were circulated by “outsiders and biased media.” According to the administration, the security situation in these areas is under control, and no changes have occurred in their governance.
However, in recent days, conflicting reports about insecurity in some remote districts of Nuristan have raised concerns among residents. Nuristan is a mountainous and difficult-to-access province in eastern Afghanistan, with some districts hard to reach by land, complicating independent assessments of the security situation.
Farydon Samim, spokesperson for the governor of Nuristan, stated that about four tons of medicine and food supplies were transferred by helicopter yesterday to the Bargimatal and Kamdish districts. According to him, these aid shipments are intended to address local needs, and cooperation to support the population continues.
The Taliban administration also emphasized that it will not allow “even an inch” of the country’s soil to fall outside its control— a claim difficult to verify due to the lack of free media access and independent sources.
