FAO Distributes Wheat Farming Packages to Over 2,000 Families in Three Afghan Provinces

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) announced that in 2025, more than two thousand farming families in the provinces of Badghis, Helmand, and Kandahar have received wheat farming packages. This initiative aims to strengthen agricultural production and improve the livelihoods of residents in these areas.

On Thursday, March 25, the organization stated on its official X (formerly Twitter) account that these packages were distributed with financial support from the European Union in Afghanistan. According to FAO, the aid has been designed to enable farmers to effectively utilize it in the upcoming planting season.

The information released indicates that each package includes 50 kilograms of improved wheat seeds, 100 kilograms of chemical fertilizer, along with agricultural technical training. The purpose of providing this training is to increase land productivity and enhance food security for the recipient families.

This assistance comes at a time when many farming families in Afghanistan are facing serious challenges due to consecutive droughts and the economic crisis. Experts have repeatedly emphasized that alongside emergency aid, the Taliban administration needs to facilitate sustainable support for the agricultural sector and ensure farmers’ access to resources and markets to reduce dependency on foreign aid.
