Iran’s President Medicalian Sends Message to the Region: Iran Seeks No War but Will Defend Itself

Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran and spokesperson for the Provisional Leadership Council, announced in a televised message to the Iranian people that, based on the council’s decision, no attacks will be carried out against neighboring countries unless Iran is attacked from their territories. He emphasized that this directive has been communicated to the armed forces with the aim of preventing the escalation of conflicts in the region.
At the beginning of his speech, the Iranian president expressed condolences for the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, several commanders, and a number of civilians killed in airstrikes on non-military sites. He described these incidents as violations of international laws and reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to legal and humanitarian frameworks.
Pezeshkian thanked Iranian citizens for their presence and support of the country’s territorial integrity and stressed that under current circumstances it is essential to set aside internal disputes and strengthen national unity. He stated that unconditional surrender by Iran is “unthinkable” and Tehran will defend its sovereignty and territory.
He also apologized to some neighboring countries that, according to him, have been inadvertently affected during Iran’s responses, asserting that Tehran has no intention of invading any country and considers its neighbors as “brothers.” According to Pezeshkian, Iran desires lasting peace in the region and prefers resolving disagreements through diplomatic channels.
Referring to the current situation, the Iranian president emphasized that the country is in a wartime state, but government officials are striving to ensure public services remain uninterrupted. He called on groups and factions who might seek to exploit the situation to refrain from escalating tensions and to resolve differences through dialogue.
In recent days, security and military developments have intensified in the region following military incursions by the United States and Israel into Iranian territory and reciprocal responses by the Islamic Republic, raising concerns about the widening scope of the conflict.
