Death of Former Afghan Commando in Iran Confirmed

The death of a former commando of the Afghan Republic’s government, who had sought refuge in Iran after the fall of Kabul, was confirmed due to an electrocution incident in Yazd. Local sources confirmed on Monday, October 13, that the incident occurred in one of the neighborhoods of Yazd city.

The deceased has been identified as Alishah Alizadeh, who, according to sources, hailed from the Malima village in the Dara district of Panjshir province. During the previous regime, he was one of the elite commando officers.

After the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in 2021, Alizadeh fled to Iran in search of security and opportunities to continue his life—a place where many former security forces now live under difficult conditions away from their homeland.

More than four years after the collapse of the Republic regime, thousands of Afghan military personnel have been forced to flee to neighboring countries. Many live without legal documentation and face daily hardships, including tragic accidents, poverty, and pressure from local security agencies. The Taliban administration has been repeatedly criticized for its lack of support for former forces and neglect of the fate of security personnel.
