Afghanistan’s Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has issued a warning about the likelihood of snowfall, rain, thunderstorms, and flash floods in 27 provinces across the country, urging residents to take precautionary measures.

Operating under the Taliban administration, the ministry stated in a declaration on X (formerly Twitter) that today and tomorrow the provinces of Kabul, Nuristan, Nangarhar, Laghman, Panjshir, Parwan, Kapisa, Baghlan, Samangan, Logar, Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Maidan Wardak, Bamyan, Daikundi, Ghazni, Zabul, Uruzgan, Kandahar, Helmand, Farah, Herat, Ghor, Badghis, Faryab, and Sar-e Pol, including the Salang areas, will experience relatively heavy snowfall and rain.

According to the ministry, precipitation is expected to range from 10 to 40 millimeters, with snowfall between 10 and 50 millimeters, potentially causing road closures and increasing the risk of flash floods.

The ministry also warned of the possibility of strong winds in the northwestern, western, and central provinces, including the Salang region. Wind speeds are predicted to range between 50 and 100 kilometers per hour in various locations, a situation likely to disrupt transportation, daily life, and mobility for residents.
