Over 50 Kilometers of Land Cleared of Mines in Afghanistan Over the Past Year

The spokesperson of the Disaster Preparedness Department announced that, with the support of cooperating institutions, more than 50 kilometers of land in Afghanistan have been cleared of mines over the past year.
Mohammad Yousof Hamad stated that during this period, over 24,000 mines and unexploded explosive devices, which pose a serious threat to the lives of residents, especially in rural areas, have been identified and neutralized.
He added that these operations took place in areas where, previously, the presence of mines and war munitions made access to agricultural lands and travel routes dangerous for the people.
Following the Taliban administration’s rise to power, mine-clearance activities have continued under the auspices of the Disaster Preparedness Department, which says coordination with partner organizations has played a crucial role in advancing these programs.
