Kremlin Denies Trump’s Claim That India Will Stop Buying Russian Oil

The Kremlin spokesperson has dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that India has agreed to halt its purchases of Russian oil, stating that Moscow has yet to receive any such indication from New Delhi.

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, announced on Tuesday that Russia continuously monitors information and reports related to India’s oil purchases and carefully examines and analyzes statements made on this matter. According to him, no official message or decision from the Indian government to stop buying Russian oil has been communicated to Moscow.

Peskov emphasized that Russia intends to continue developing its relations with India, considering the country an important partner regionally and internationally. He added that while respecting India’s relations with the United States, Moscow places special importance on expanding its strategic partnership with New Delhi.

This response comes after Donald Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social on Monday, claiming that following talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, New Delhi has agreed to stop buying Russian oil and instead increase imports from the U.S. and possibly Venezuela. Trump also linked this move to efforts aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war.
