Iran’s UN Mission Expresses Readiness for Dialogue with US Based on Mutual Respect

The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations has announced that Tehran is ready to enter into dialogue with the United States on the basis of mutual respect and consideration of the interests of both parties. This position was stated in response to recent remarks by Donald Trump, the current President of the United States.
In a message posted on the social media platform X, the mission emphasized that if pressured, Iran will defend itself and added that the country’s potential response in such circumstances would be “unprecedented.” Without providing further details, the message referenced Iran’s right to legitimate self-defense.
The Iranian mission also noted that the United States has spent over seven trillion dollars and lost thousands of soldiers in its wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, conflicts that have also had extensive regional repercussions.
These statements came after Donald Trump warned that if Iran does not return to the negotiating table, the US would respond militarily. Nevertheless, the Iranian mission reiterated that a diplomatic solution based on mutual respect remains the priority.
