Afghan Citizen Sentenced to 15 Years in US for Plotting 2024 Election Day Terror Attack

US authorities have sentenced Abdullah Hajizadeh, an Afghan citizen, to 15 years in prison for his involvement in planning a terrorist attack on the day of the 2024 US presidential election.

According to a statement from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Hajizadeh, on behalf of the ISIS group, attempted to procure two firearms intended for use in executing the plot. US officials stated that this act was part of an organized conspiracy to carry out an attack during one of the most sensitive political events in the United States.

The statement further noted that upon completion of his prison term, the Afghan citizen will be deported from the US to Afghanistan. US authorities have not provided additional details regarding the exact timing of the deportation or the location of his transfer.

This case once again highlights concerns over the activities of transnational extremist networks and their exploitation of immigration situations, an issue that has consistently drawn the attention of international security agencies.
