Yemeni Activist Warns of UAE and Israeli Involvement in Ongoing Crisis

A political activist in southern Yemen has warned that the country’s ongoing turmoil goes beyond internal disputes and is part of broader regional and international projects aimed at redefining foreign power influence.

Aref Mathna Al-Amari told media outlets that the current situation in Yemen stems from Saudi Arabia’s failure to honor previous commitments and its efforts to impose new political and security dynamics. According to him, these efforts primarily serve the goal of expanding Israeli influence in the region.

The activist emphasized that the UAE’s presence in Yemen cannot be separated from foreign agendas linked to Israel. He claimed that Israel supports elements of the Southern Transitional Council, which is backed by the UAE, in an attempt to destabilize Yemen by weakening its internal structures.

Al-Amari added that despite receiving military and political support, the UAE has failed to effectively implement its plans within Yemen and the broader region. In his view, this failure has prompted the United States and Israel to become more directly involved in efforts to impose new power arrangements, turning Yemen into a battleground for international rivalries.

Meanwhile, recent days have seen clashes in eastern and southern Yemen between forces aligned with Saudi Arabia and those backed by the UAE. These tensions reflect ongoing conflict between the self-proclaimed Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council. In response, a joint Saudi-UAE delegation has been dispatched to Yemen to manage the situation.

At the same time, reports indicate that Riyadh has begun recruiting forces to counter UAE-affiliated elements in Al-Mahrah province. In retaliation, UAE-aligned forces have announced they will cease cooperation with Saudi representatives in the self-declared Yemeni government, raising concerns over escalating instability in the war-torn country.
