Torkham and Spin Boldak Borders Reopen for UN Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan

Media sources in Pakistan report that for the first time in two months, the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings have reopened for United Nations humanitarian aid shipments.

According to available information, in the first phase of the operation, 143 containers of aid from three UN-affiliated organizations will enter Afghanistan.

The Torkham and Spin Boldak crossings, two key border points between Afghanistan and Pakistan, had been closed in recent weeks due to border tensions and Taliban policies. The closures had severely disrupted the delivery of vital humanitarian aid to people facing an acute humanitarian crisis.

So far, the Taliban administration has issued no official statement regarding the reopening of the border crossings. Their silence has raised questions amid growing concerns over the administration’s apparent disregard for the dire situation faced by Afghan civilians.
