Venezuelan President Accuses U.S. of Seeking to Seize Country’s Oil Resources

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has accused the United States of attempting to seize his country’s oil resources, in response to escalating tensions between Washington and Caracas.

In a recent speech, Maduro warned that the U.S. has placed a strong focus on the Caribbean region, deploying more than fourteen warships and fifteen thousand military personnel around Venezuela’s coasts. According to Maduro, American forces have conducted over twenty bombing operations targeting small vessels, resulting in the deaths of more than eighty people under what he described as illegal circumstances.

Criticizing Washington’s military posture, Maduro said, “The world knows clearly that U.S. military interventions and those of its allies have had catastrophic consequences for oil-producing countries.”

He stressed that Venezuela will not yield to threats or extortion and vowed to remain “firm and resolute” in defending its natural resources.

Maduro’s comments come amid heightened tensions surrounding the U.S. military build-up in the Caribbean, a move that has raised international concern and further strained bilateral relations.
