Two Old Russian Artillery Pieces Seized in Surchark District of Sar-e-Pul

Security forces and police in Surchark district of Sar-e-Pul province have discovered and seized two old Russian artillery pieces in the Takzar bazaar area of the district.

Security officials say that after technical assessment and the necessary repairs, these artillery pieces will be fit for use again by technical personnel from the logistics department of the Sar-e-Pul police command.

The discovery of such equipment underscores the continued efforts of security forces to clear areas and prevent their possible use by armed opposition groups. Surchark district has long been one of the sensitive areas in Sar-e-Pul province, and for that reason, its security situation is given special attention.
