Taliban anti-drugs deputy visits addiction treatment centre in Kandahar

Haji Sheikh Abdul Rahman Munir, the deputy minister for counter-narcotics at the Taliban-run Ministry of Interior, visited the addiction treatment centre in Kandahar province during a trip to the province. Hafiz Ismatullah, the head of counter-narcotics in Kandahar, was also present during the visit.

During his meeting with the centre’s officials and staff, as well as several patients undergoing treatment, Mr. Munir closely reviewed the centre’s operations and the services being provided there. He offered recommendations and guidance to officials on improving service quality, enhancing the treatment process and improving the condition of drug addicts.

The visit came as addiction and a shortage of treatment facilities in many provinces, including Kandahar, remain among the serious challenges facing people, requiring urgent attention from the Taliban administration to provide better and more comprehensive services.
