Taliban installs and activates security cameras in Sharana

In another move by the Taliban administration, dozens of security cameras have been installed and activated in various parts of Sharana, the capital of Paktika province.
According to acting officials at the Taliban-run Interior Ministry’s procurement department, the step is intended to increase surveillance and help prevent potential security incidents and crime.
At the launch ceremony for the cameras, Taliban officials described the measure as part of efforts to strengthen security in Sharana and called on the public to cooperate with the Taliban administration in security matters and other areas, and to carry out their responsibilities in support of the country’s welfare and development.
However, the closed nature of decision-making and the lack of transparency under Taliban rule have long led critics and civil society activists to question the real impact of such projects on improving security and public welfare.
