Khalilzad warns Taliban-Pakistan ties will sharply worsen

Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. envoy for Afghanistan peace talks, has warned that relations between the Taliban administration and Pakistan could deteriorate further.
Writing on the social media platform X, he said reports have emerged of Pakistan supporting groups fighting against the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Khalilzad also added that, alongside this, there are reports that the Pakistani army is recruiting Afghans to fight against its opponents.
The remarks come as The New York Times, in its latest report, pointed to meetings between Pakistani military and intelligence officials and Taliban opponents.
Relations between the Taliban administration and Pakistan have sharply soured in recent months, with sporadic clashes reported between the two sides.
