Taliban shuts all private education centres in Nuristan

As part of the restrictions imposed on education in Afghanistan, the Taliban administration has shut all private education centres in Parun, the capital of Nuristan province.
According to information obtained from local sources by the 8am Daily, the Department for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in Nuristan sent a letter to the owners of these centres, ordering them to close their education facilities.
In the letter, which was seen by 8am Daily, the department asked the owners to visit the office along with their operating licences. Previously, the same department had also warned these institutions several times not to expand their English language education programmes.
This move is another example of the educational restrictions the Taliban administration has imposed across the country on private centres, especially in the field of foreign language training, and it has significant negative consequences for young people’s access to quality education.
