Taliban Administration Says Russian Firm Seeks to Invest in Agriculture

The Taliban-run Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock says a Russian company has expressed interest in investing in Afghanistan’s agriculture sector and setting up a chemical fertiliser production plant, a move that could affect the country’s agricultural inputs market.
According to the ministry, the chief executive of the Russian company Tekhnotek (TEXHOTEKC), along with a delegation, discussed investment opportunities in agriculture and chemical fertiliser production during a meeting with officials from the ministry.
The Taliban administration’s Ministry of Agriculture said, quoting Rachikovich, that under the company’s plan, chemical fertiliser will first be imported from Russia to Afghanistan, and in a second stage, a fertiliser production factory will be established inside Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the deputy minister of agriculture and livestock of the Taliban administration stressed the expansion of domestic investment and said the ministry is ready to provide the necessary facilities for companies and institutions that intend to invest in Afghanistan.
