Taliban Culture Minister Condemns ICC Arrest Warrant for Leader as Unfair

Following the International Criminal Court’s latest decision, Sheikh Sher Ahmad Hakim, acting minister of information and culture for the Taliban administration, criticised the issuance of an arrest warrant for the head of the administration, calling it “unequal.”
He made the remarks at a meeting in Nangarhar province and claimed that the Taliban leader had, through a “general amnesty,” shown consideration for the value of people’s lives.
The acting minister also said that people he said were involved in the “killing of innocent people” in Afghanistan, Iran and Palestine had not faced similar action by the International Criminal Court.
The International Criminal Court is an international judicial body established to examine and prosecute some of the most serious international crimes. Further details about the court’s latest decision were not provided in the report.
