Kushner says Israel’s isolation after Doha strike helped drive Gaza deal
Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law and a former adviser to him, has said that Israel’s global isolation after its attack on Doha became a US lever to push ahead with a Gaza agreement.
According to RT, Kushner said in a meeting that the US administration used Israel’s international isolation to pressure the country into signing the Gaza deal. He also described Israel’s attack on Doha as a “terrible act” and said the operation was not successful from a military perspective either.
Kushner said this development caused Israel to become even more isolated around the world. He also said days earlier that the upcoming election in the occupied territories could push Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet toward “irrational” behaviour on some Gaza-related issues.
During Donald Trump’s first term as president, Kushner was considered one of the influential figures in US Middle East policy and played a prominent role in files related to Israel and Arab countries.
