Putin Says Russia and UAE Remain in Contact on Middle East Situation
Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, that Moscow and the United Arab Emirates are in contact regarding developments in the Middle East.
According to Russia Today, the meeting took place on Saturday on the sidelines of a BRICS summit. Putin said the Gulf region is going through a difficult period, while also expressing confidence that the situation in the Middle East will improve despite current problems.
Putin also said relations between Russia and the UAE would be maintained and expanded further. According to him, the UAE has become one of the countries in the region closest to Russia.
The BRICS summit is a meeting of member states of the economic group, held with a focus on political and economic cooperation. The United Arab Emirates is among the countries that have joined this framework in recent years.
