Pakistan Says Joint Defence Pact with Saudi Arabia and Turkey Could Be Activated

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia could lead to the activation of a joint defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

He said that under the terms of the agreement, if one member is attacked, it will be considered an attack on all members, and Pakistan would be obliged to provide assistance in such a situation.

The remarks came after the Houthis carried out missile and drone attacks on southern areas of Saudi Arabia on September 8.

The Houthis are an armed group based in Yemen and have repeatedly launched attacks on Saudi territory in recent years, attacks that have deepened security concerns in the region.
