Clashes Break Out Between Afghanistan Freedom Front and Taliban in Badakhshan

Local sources in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province say clashes between fighters from the Afghanistan Freedom Front and the Taliban administration began on Monday in Zibak district.

According to these sources, the incident took place in the Zibak area, and sources affiliated with the Freedom Front have also confirmed the fighting.

A resident of the Sang-Lich area near the site of the clashes told Afghanistan International that fighting is ongoing and that Taliban forces have been seen moving through the area.

According to the source, the Taliban administration minutes earlier moved the body of one of its fighters from the clash site to the district center.

So far, neither the Afghanistan Freedom Front nor the Taliban administration has said anything about possible casualties from the clash.

Zibak district is located in the southeast of Badakhshan province and is one of the districts bordering Pakistan.
