Fiber Optic Internet Services Cut Off in Parwan Province

Fiber optic internet services were suspended in Parwan province on Sunday, September 21, following similar disruptions reported in several other provinces of Afghanistan.

Parwan governor’s spokesperson, Sayed Hikmatullah Shami, confirmed the shutdown in remarks to TOLOnews but did not provide details on the reasons behind the move.

In recent days, widespread disruptions in fiber optic services have been reported across multiple provinces, fueling public concern over increasing restrictions on internet access.

The Taliban authorities have yet to offer a clear explanation for the outages. The scale and nature of these disruptions have raised new questions about internet control and censorship under the Taliban, further deepening the crisis around freedom of expression and access to information in Afghanistan.
