Atta Mohammad Noor Criticizes Possible Handover of Bagram Airbase

Atta Mohammad Noor, a member of the Supreme Council of the Jamiat-e-Islami party, has strongly condemned what he described as efforts to hand over Afghan territory to foreign powers. In a statement, Noor stressed that Afghanistan is globally known for its history of resistance against occupiers and foreign domination, and warned that this legacy must not be disregarded.

According to Noor, certain figures inside Afghanistan are seeking to cede areas such as Bagram, Kabul, or Kandahar to foreign powers, including current U.S. President Donald Trump. He argued that such a move would amount to bargaining away Afghanistan’s sovereignty and dignity.

While criticizing the Taliban for their oppressive and inhumane policies, Noor noted that the group has not gone so far as to hand over Afghan soil. This remark, despite its sharp criticism of the Taliban, reflects Noor’s deeper concern over the actions of other political factions within the country.

Noor further addressed the United States, stating that Afghanistan does not need military occupation. Instead, he argued, removing obstacles and providing military assistance to anti-Taliban forces would be sufficient to secure Afghanistan’s future.
