US Homeland Security Secretary’s plane makes emergency landing in Washington after engine failure
The plane carrying US Homeland Security Secretary Markvin Mullin made an emergency landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington after a technical fault caused one of its engines to fail. The incident ended without any injuries to those on board.
According to US media reports, the aircraft encountered a technical problem while flying from Georgia to Washington. After the right engine shut down, the pilot declared an emergency and requested permission to land at Ronald Reagan Airport.
The reports said the aircraft was a Gulfstream C-37A and belonged to the US Coast Guard. There were 14 people on board at the time of the incident.
Despite the engine failure, the pilots were able to maintain control of the flight and land the aircraft safely on the runway. Reports said none of the passengers were injured.
After landing, Mullin praised the Coast Guard pilots. He wrote on the social media platform X that the pilots handled the situation so well that it appeared normal to the passengers.
Ronald Reagan National Airport is one of Washington’s main airports and handles many domestic flights. The Gulfstream C-37A is also among the aircraft used to transport US officials and for official missions.
