Taliban Reviews Digitisation of State Hospitals
The Taliban administration said the process of digitising state hospitals was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Mullah Noor Jalal Jalali, acting minister of public health. According to the announcement, the process includes areas such as patient information registration and management, the organisation of medicines and medical equipment, and financial and administrative affairs.
Taliban officials said the meeting assessed how health-sector digitisation could be carried out and the progress of its implementation stages. No details were released on the timeline for the programme, the number of hospitals included, or any possible costs.
Mullah Noor Jalal Jalali, the Taliban administration’s acting minister of public health, said digitising hospitals could play an important role in transparency, work efficiency and improving the quality of health services. He also issued instructions to the relevant officials for the comprehensive implementation of the process.
State hospitals in Afghanistan provide a major share of public health services, and the regular recording of patient information and management of medical equipment are considered essential needs of these facilities. The digitisation of these areas will be effective only if it is accompanied by stable access to technical facilities and practical implementation in health centres.
