Taliban says 288 Afghan families returned through border crossings in one day

The Taliban said the forced return of Afghan migrants is continuing, with 288 families, comprising 1,399 people, entering Afghanistan through several border crossings in a single day.

Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Taliban administration, said in a statement on Wednesday, 28 Asad, that these people returned to Afghanistan via the Torkham, Spin Boldak, Silk Road and Islam Qala border crossings.

According to him, 228 families, or 1,159 people, entered the country through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar province, and six families, or 31 people, crossed through Spin Boldak in Kandahar province.

Fitrat added that 40 families, comprising 153 people, arrived in Afghanistan via the Silk Road route in Nimroz province, and 14 families, comprising 56 people, entered through the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat province.

In recent months, the return and deportation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan has continued, and thousands of families have been forced to leave the country amid rising pressure and deportation policies.

Torkham and Spin Boldak are among Afghanistan’s most important border crossings with Pakistan, while Islam Qala is also one of the main crossings on the border with Iran.
