Taliban Administration Reports Sale of 17 Million Afghanis Worth of Panjshir Products

Local officials of the Taliban administration in Panjshir province announced that in the first quarter of the current year, domestic products from this province were sold for a total of 17,776,000 Afghanis in local markets and some foreign markets.

Sayed Safiuddin Latun, spokesperson for the Taliban governor in Panjshir, told the media that according to a report from the Export Promotion Directorate of the province’s Industry and Trade Department, 36,642 carats of emeralds valued at 4,805,190 Afghanis were sold to domestic traders during this period.

He also stated that during the same time frame, 130 tons of glass worth 10 million Afghanis were exported to Russia, Arab countries, and domestic markets.

Panjshir is a mountainous province in the northeastern part of the country, where emeralds are one of the most important sources of local revenue. The extraction and sale of this precious stone have always been a key part of the economic activities in the province.
