One-Kilometer Road in Khost Completed with a Budget of 30 Million Afghanis
The Municipality of Khost has announced the completion and inauguration of a road construction project spanning more than one kilometer in the city’s second and third districts, with a cost nearing 30 million Afghanis.
According to Engineer Rahmatullah Pezhwak, the Head of Technical and Professional Services at Khost Municipality, the project was implemented over nine months and included the construction of about 1,300 meters of road and more than 2,500 meters of sidewalks.
He also stated that in the Solar Year 1405, Khost Municipality plans to carry out 30 development projects, with a budget allocation of 292 million Afghanis.
Residents and shopkeepers of the second and third districts said that previously the roads in the area were unpaved and would become muddy and flooded during rainfalls, making it difficult for people to travel. Seyed Nawaz Faqirzi, a local resident, said the previous condition of the roads caused serious difficulties for movement.
Jihad Gul, a shopkeeper in the area, also expressed hope that the fundamental construction of the road and sidewalks would reduce traffic problems and positively impact their businesses.
This project’s completion comes as providing standard roads and urban infrastructure remains one of the basic needs of citizens. Many urban areas in different provinces still face a shortage of infrastructure facilities.
