Taliban-Run Kabul Municipality Announces New Fuel Prices

The Taliban administration’s municipality in Kabul has set and announced new fuel prices, a move that could impact transportation costs and market prices for goods.

According to a price list published by the Commission for Preventing Hoarding and Controlling Raw Material Prices of the municipality on Wednesday, August 5, on the social media platform X, the price for each liter of petrol has been set at 80 Afghanis, each liter of diesel at 75 Afghanis, and each kilogram of liquefied gas at 67 Afghanis.

The municipality under Taliban rule stated that these prices were approved by the mentioned commission and that sellers are obligated to supply fuel according to the announced rates.

Fuel prices are among the primary factors determining transportation costs in Kabul city, and any change in them can have a cascading effect on the prices of certain goods and services in the market—a matter of particular importance to many residents amid challenging economic conditions.
