Taliban’s Ministry Announces 7.7 Billion Afghanis Spent on Hajj Pilgrimage

The Acting Minister of Guidance, Hajj, and Religious Endowments for the Taliban administration announced that the total expenses for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage by Afghan pilgrims reached 7,723,741,583 Afghanis.

According to Noor Mohammad Saqib, out of the 7,818,307,200 Afghanis collected from pilgrims, 94,565,616 Afghanis remain unspent. He stated that this amount will be distributed among the pilgrims, with each person receiving a share of 3,223 Afghanis.

The Acting Minister of Guidance, Hajj, and Religious Endowments added that starting next Saturday, pilgrims can visit the ministry in Kabul and its provincial offices to collect their remaining funds.

This year, 30,000 Afghans were sent to Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj rituals. The Taliban administration had set the cost per pilgrim at 266,400 Afghanis. Last year, the same number of pilgrims performed Hajj, and according to the ministry, their total expenses were reported to be 8,287,772,000 Afghanis.
