Taliban Overhauls Over 1,100 Military Vehicles Amid Rising Concerns

The Taliban-run Ministry of Defense has announced that 1,127 military vehicles and 125 different types of weapons have been refurbished over the past six months.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the repairs were carried out in workshops affiliated with the department, and the refurbished vehicles are now ready for use. These vehicles include 104 armored Humvees, 11 strike tanks, 114 International-brand trucks, 658 Ranger pickups, and other types of military equipment.

This development comes as the Taliban administration continues to allocate significant resources toward rebuilding and equipping its military forces, rather than focusing on public services and improving the livelihoods of ordinary citizens. The lack of transparency and accountability surrounding these efforts has raised concerns over the persistence of a tense security environment in the country.

Many analysts see the Taliban’s intensified focus on military hardware as a sign of the group’s security-centric approach. They argue that despite the Afghan population’s urgent needs for welfare, education, and healthcare, the group remains primarily committed to bolstering its military apparatus.
