Afghanistan Emphasizes Polio Vaccination as Essential to Prevent Childhood Paralysis

The Afghanistan Polio-Free Initiative has emphasized that the polio vaccine is the most effective and safest way to prevent children from contracting polio, urging families to cooperate with health teams during vaccination campaigns.

On Monday, July 26, the organization warned on its X page that citizens should not be influenced by misinformation about the vaccine, stating that vaccination plays a vital role in preventing the spread of the disease.

Officials from the initiative have previously said that children’s health is the foundation of a healthy society, and timely administration of essential vaccines can protect them from dangerous illnesses.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that Afghanistan, alongside one other country, remains one of the few places in the world where the poliovirus continues to circulate endemically. This underscores the critical importance of ongoing vaccination campaigns.
