Taliban Administration Reviews Solar Power Project in Six Afghan Provinces
The Taliban administration’s inter-ministerial investment committee has reviewed a private sector proposal to produce solar electricity in six provinces of the country and decided to entrust the project to Afghanistan’s Breshna Company for comprehensive evaluation.
According to a press release from the Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister, the project includes solar power production in the provinces of Uruzgan, Daikundi, Ghor, Zabul, Paktika, and Farah. The committee has tasked Breshna Company with reviewing the proposal in coordination with the relevant company within one month and submitting the final report to the committee.
During the same meeting, the Ministry of Public Works’ report on a private sector proposal for the development of the Nayebabad substation in Mazar-i-Sharif and the establishment of a logistics center was also discussed. Relevant departments have been directed to conduct a comparative evaluation of this plan and share the findings with the committee.
While stable access to electricity remains a fundamental need for residents in many provinces, these projects are still under review, and the exact commencement date for their implementation has not yet been determined.
