Afghanistan’s UN Envoy Urges Immediate Increase in Aid for Nuristan Flood Victims

Nasir Ahmad Faiq, the acting representative of Afghanistan to the United Nations, has called for an urgent expansion of humanitarian assistance for the flood-affected people of Nuristan province. On Wednesday, July 22, via his X (formerly Twitter) page, Faiq expressed his condolences to the families of the victims following devastating floods in Nuristan and several other eastern regions of the country. He urged UN agencies and humanitarian partners to accelerate their efforts to provide life-saving aid to the affected communities. Nuristan, a mountainous province in eastern Afghanistan, suffers annually from heavy rainfall and floods that cause significant financial losses and casualties among residents of some of its districts.
