Funerals Held for Five Victims of Illegal Migration to Iran in Balkh

The bodies of five young men from Mir Qasim Jan village in Chamtal district, Balkh province, who lost their lives during an unofficial journey to Iran, were buried in their hometown on Tuesday.

According to local sources, these young men left their homes about a week ago to travel to Iran but died in the deserts of Nimroz province due to extreme heat and lack of drinking water.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that 14 other young people have gone missing in the plains of Nimroz. It is said that the vehicle carrying this group broke down in the Margo desert in Chakhansur district, and the travelers lost their way afterward; some have died from thirst and the scorching heat, and the search for the others continues.

Unofficial migration routes from Afghanistan to Iran, especially from Nimroz province, are considered among the most dangerous crossings and claim the lives of dozens of people every year in the deserts of this province.
