Fresh Mulberry Harvest in Panjshir Rises by 13% in 2026
The Panjshir Agricultural Department has announced a 13 percent increase in fresh mulberry yields in the province in 2026 compared to the previous year.
Qari Fazlullah Diyoband, head of Panjshir Agriculture, stated that the production of fresh mulberries rose from 3,500 metric tons in 2025 to 4,023 metric tons in 2026. He noted that this increase was recorded while the harvesting process is still ongoing.
He added that approximately 1,400 hectares of land in Panjshir were cultivated with mulberries this year.
According to the head of Panjshir Agriculture, favorable weather conditions, absence of rainfall during the fruit collection season, and support to orchard farmers through the distribution of fruit drying machines by some organizations were among the factors contributing to the rise in production.
Various types of mulberries are cultivated in Panjshir, including indigenous mulberry, black mulberry, white mulberry, seedless mulberry, sweet mulberry, malkari, and shah mulberry. This mountainous province is considered one of the well-known mulberry-producing regions in the country.
