Russian Missile Strike on Ukrainian Ports Kills Three in Odesa

Ukrainian officials reported that a Russian missile attack on the city of Odesa in southern Ukraine resulted in three fatalities and three injuries. According to them, the strike also damaged several buildings in this port city.

Serhiy Lysak, head of the local military administration, confirmed casualties from the attack but did not provide specifics regarding the precise nature of the targets. Prior to the explosions, the Ukrainian Air Force had announced it detected missiles headed toward Odesa.

In contrast, the Russian Ministry of Defense issued a statement claiming it targeted the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and the Dnipro-Buh port in southern Ukraine. The ministry alleged these facilities were being used to supply and support Ukrainian armed forces.

According to the Russian defense ministry, fuel storage tanks, cargo unloading facilities, drone manufacturing and assembly plants, and four Ukrainian military supply ships were struck in the attacks.

This incident comes amid ongoing fighting on the southern fronts. Russian forces have increasingly concentrated on port infrastructure, especially around Odesa, in recent months, while Ukrainian forces have intensified their attacks on ships in the Sea of Azov.
