Taliban Urges Continued Cooperation With Aga Khan Foundation in Bamiyan

The Taliban administration said it has stressed the continuation of cooperation with the Aga Khan Foundation in Bamiyan during a meeting between Abdul Rahman Tayyib, the deputy minister for culture and arts at the Ministry of Information and Culture, and Lian Ou, director general of the Aga Khan Foundation for Afghanistan.

According to the Taliban administration, the meeting discussed the preservation and restoration of Afghanistan’s cultural monuments, the restoration project of the Shesh Pol caravanserai in Bamiyan province, and the expansion of cooperation between the two sides.

Abdul Rahman Tayyib described the restoration of the Shesh Pol caravanserai as important for the protection of cultural heritage and stressed the need for continued cooperation between the Aga Khan Foundation and the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Information and Culture.

Caravanserais are among the historic structures associated with trade and travel routes in the region, and Bamiyan is one of Afghanistan’s provinces with significant historical and cultural sites.
