600 Families in Laghman Gain Access to Clean Drinking Water Through UN Project

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) announced that approximately 600 families in the Baba Sahib district of Laghman province have gained access to clean drinking water. This project was implemented with the support of the United Nations Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan (UN-STFA).

On Wednesday, July 8, the agency wrote on its official X (formerly Twitter) page that providing safe water to the residents of this area is part of broader efforts to improve health conditions and reduce diseases caused by contaminated water in Afghanistan.

The United Nations consistently emphasizes that access to safe drinking water plays a crucial role in reducing illnesses, especially among children, and can prevent the spread of preventable diseases.

According to reports from UN-affiliated organizations, millions of people in Afghanistan still face shortages of safe water, with a large portion of the population forced to use unsafe water. This situation underscores the critical need for sustained investment and effective management of water resources.
