1.7 Million People Depend on UNRWA Services in Gaza Amid Ongoing Crisis

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has announced that nearly 1.7 million people, including Palestinian refugees and other residents of the Gaza Strip, rely on its essential services and humanitarian aid. The agency states that it remains the largest provider of vital services in Gaza.

On Wednesday, July 1, UNRWA emphasized in a report that despite difficult conditions, it plays a key role in maintaining social stability in the area. According to the agency, continuing its operations to meet the urgent needs of the Palestinian population is critically important.

The report highlights that amid the ongoing crisis, UNRWA has lost hundreds of employees and thousands more have been injured; however, the organization continues to manage the most extensive network of humanitarian services in Gaza.

UNRWA added that it provides thousands of medical consultations, educational services, vaccinations, and psychological support every day. Supplying drinking water, waste management, emergency education, and both in-person and online educational support for hundreds of thousands of children are also among its programs.

The agency has called on the international community to increase financial and operational support and warned that sustaining its services is essential to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
