Land Distributed to 1,050 Returning Families Across Five Provinces in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has announced that in the latest phase of land distribution, 1,050 returning families in five provinces of the country have been allocated residential plots. According to the ministry, with the implementation of this phase, the total number of land plots distributed nationwide has reached 55,285.

Based on published information, 456 families in Nangarhar, 320 families in Faryab, 140 families in Balkh, 110 families in Farah, and 24 families in Helmand have been included in this program. It is said that these lands have been designated for the permanent settlement of returning families.

The process of distributing residential land is being managed by the Committee for Permanent Settlement and Land Distribution, chaired by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing under the Taliban administration, and continues in 21 provinces across the country. This process is being regularly carried out under the directive of Mawlawi Najibullah Hayat Haqqani, the minister of this ministry.

Officials from the ministry state that the goal of the program is to provide shelter and improve the living conditions of returnees. However, many returning families still face challenges such as a lack of basic services, absence of urban infrastructure, and limited job opportunities; issues that make the full realization of permanent settlement dependent on transparent and accountable planning.
