Herat to Sign $2 Million Contract with Turkmenistan for Domestic Products

At a gathering supporting domestic products held at the Foreign Relations Representation office in Herat province, Taliban officials announced that a contract worth two million dollars will soon be signed with Turkmenistan for the use of domestic products. The meeting was attended by representatives from several regional countries, international organizations and institutions, traders, and local officials.
Sheikh Islamjar, the governor of Herat, emphasized the importance of improving the quality of domestic products and urged industrialists to elevate their products to a level competitive with neighboring countries. He also stressed expanding transit cooperation with neighboring countries, a matter of special importance for the border province of Herat given its commercial position.
Officials from the Foreign Relations Representation of Herat stated that the purpose of this gathering was to encourage institutions and political authorities in the region to utilize domestic products. According to them, this initiative can facilitate the entry of domestic products into global markets and increase sales.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines said the Taliban administration supports industrialists, noting that currently around 1,350 factories are operational in the province’s industrial park. They added that foreign organizations receive a 10% discount and currently 115 companies from Herat export to various countries.
Despite these announcements, several industrialists have consistently emphasized the need for banking facilities, reliable electricity access, and stability in trade policies; factors that are critical for the practical realization of support for domestic products.
